I wouldn’t describe myself as one of the greatest thinkers of the 21st century. Is this game for me?

Fear not! Our rooms do not require any specific knowledge to be completed. Everything you need to escape will be given within the room – your team’s problem solving ability, logic and ingenuity are the only things that will be put to the test. We recommend teams who haven’t played an escape room before attempt the deranged scientist to learn the ropes.

What ages can play?

All ages can play our escape rooms. However, because it is pitched at adults it is strongly recommended that folks under the age of 16 are accompanied by adults. Room 13 would not be suitable for under 16s, if you make an under 16 year old do this room they may never talk to you again… Also important to note we don’t have a child rate so it is up to you if you think your child will get the $33/$45 worth out of the experience.

I am under 18. Can I sign the Liability Waiver form?

A parent or guardian must sign the waiver on your behalf. The waiver form is available here.

Is this a suitable activity for a work/corporate group?

Escape rooms are an excellent activity for work groups with a variety of goals from team building, to a fun Christmas party or simply breaking the ice amongst new faces. Teams will be required to communicate under pressure, discuss solutions to puzzles and cooperate to achieve the objectives in the chosen room.

Are any of the rooms physically demanding?

Not so much. Escape rooms tend to be more focused on testing your brain and teamwork than your athleticism. For example, you won’t need to move any furniture inside the rooms.

Can I play after having a few drinks?

You cannot play if you are drunk or under the influence of drugs due to insurance constraints. It’s also very likely that you will have a more enjoyable time and perform far better with a clear head!

How long does it take?

Each of the rooms has a time limit of 50 minutes. We also recommend teams arrive 15 mins prior to their session time as this allows for signing of paperwork, leaving items in lockers, etc. So allow over an hour for our rooms.

Can I participate if I am pregnant?

Pregnant ladies have attempted all four of our rooms! The deranged scientist is the best option as it is well lit and with very minimal risk of injury. All rooms have emergency exit options (key on back of door) and these can be used in the case of a toilet emergency. We would recommend thinking twice before doing our scariest experience: Room 13 – unless you wish to induce early labor!

The room’s max amount of players is more than the amount of people I am booking for, does this mean you will make up numbers with random people we don’t know?

Solid No, it is a private booking for your team only.

What happens if we don’t get out in time?

The main focus of our rooms is your enjoyment! If you don’t escape this time that’s fine! Learn what you can and come back to try your luck in another room.

Are we allowed clues if we get stuck?

Each team is entitled to three clues that are used at your discretion. Simply slip a note under the door to ask for a clue when you think you need one, and we will give you a handy nudge in the right direction.

How much does it cost?

The price is $30 per person for the escape rooms and $45pp for the Room 13 experience. If you have less than the minimum amount of players for the room you will be charged an additional $30. For example if you are a pair and you want to do the Deranged Scientist room it will cost $90 for the experience. **None of our escape rooms are great for pairs, they are aimed at teams of 4-6 players or more**

Unfortunately we are not wheelchair accessible.

What is the gift voucher policy?

Unexpected Exit Gift Cards can be used towards any experience at any Unexpected Exit locations in Australia. When redeemed, the Gift Card must be relinquished to the cashier. Any change will be provided in the form of Unexpected Exit Gift cards of the relevant denomination/s. Unexpected Exit is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged cards. The gift card is not redeemable for cash. Unexpected Exit Gift Cards are valid for 3 years from date of purchase. Unexpected Exit Gift Cards are only valid if purchased from Unexpected Exit, and processed through the register or online checkout. Gift Vouchers from pre Nov 2020 will not work on the new online booking system, If you have one of these just bring it along to the session with you to redeem it.
